Czech Healthy Cities at WELLBEING ECONOMY FORUM 2024 / ICELAND
10.-13.6.2024 / Representatives of HCCZ and Healthy Cities Brno, Ostrava, Prague 10, Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and Vysočina Region actively participated in a study trip to the international conference WELLBEING ECONOMY FORUM in Reykjavik, Iceland.
The conference was a major international event focusing on quality of life and development, a platform for dialogue and cooperation between politicians, entrepreneurs, academics and experts from all over the world. Discussions included topics such as incorporating wellbeing priorities into public budgeting, the relationship between health and wellbeing, the need for and use of data, sustainable development and the role of governments and city leaders in managing change. The conference opened with representative participation from Iceland, including the President, Prime Minister, several ministers, international experts from the WHO Regional Office for Europe, UNESCO and representatives from other countries and their municipal associations. The Czech delegation presented its experience in participation, health promotion, environmental and social care. Their presentations and speeches took place on the first day of the event, when the local dimension of the well-being economy was highlighted - what cities do for the well-being of their inhabitants, what priorities they focus on, what challenges they face. At the same time, on the second day, Deputy Mayor Filip Chvátal presented Brno's activities together with representatives of REYKJAVIK, CORK, UTRECHT region, NUOVA SCOTIA in Canada.
The main topics of the conference... Quality of life and development - social, environmental and economic dimensions the role of states and municipalities, budgeting models, examples from practice participation and community building activating the young generation sharing of experiences, cooperation between academic, business and public spheres.
The delegation from the Czech Republic left a great impression! Thanks to Filip Chvátal (Brno), Hana Hajnová (Vysočina), Hana Tichánková (Ostrava), Jan Kučero (Rožnov p. Radhoštěm) and Šimona Huitric (Prague 10) for their active participation.
